Copywriting
Copywriting is the act of writing content for people to read. How content
is written depends largely on the people you expect to read it (intended
audience) and how they are going read it (the medium).
Scientific papers, for example, are usually highly technical, long and detailed, whereas gossip column articles tend to be very basic and much shorter.
Website copy requires a new approach. People can expect web content to be a mixture of all of the above, but typically readers are more likely to engage if they can see the end of the piece. In addition, the following techniques can help encourage the reader:
- Get to the point quickly
- Break up the copy with bullet points
- Present it in an attractive way
- Include images for visual interest
